Beeckestijn

The painting by Jan Davidsz. de Heem

The photograph by Richard Kuiper
The past weeks volunteers were working  hard on Beeckestijn: an 18th century country estate in Velsen.
We all worked together under the supervision of our new artistic manager: Nathalie Faber.
The exhibition is called Still Life Exhibition. On display are paintings and photographs from the 17th century till the 21th century. Can you see the difference...
The stilllife painting was painted in the 17th century. The stillife by Richard Kuiper is a photograph from the 21 th century, everything in the photo is plastic...

  1. That must be a fascinating place to work, Margot! It would be so Inspiring to be in the real buildings with the real paintings and furnishings! That exhibit must be very interesting to see how the "Still Life" has changed .... or not!
    Happy New Year!

    1. Hi Betsy, yes it is indeed. When we were young we played in the gardens. Unfortunately the house no longer has its original furnishings, but there is some 18th century furniture on loan.

    1. Hi Giac,
yes, it is fun! and also exhausting and also exiting.
I love the old paintings from the 17th century in our exhibition the most i guess, but some of the modern ones like the ones by Richard Kuiper are so cleverly made of plastic spoons and forks! and still look like a painting from the 17th century that i fell in love with them too!
      groetjes Margot
